water spots on hood??

had a wonderfull paint job but after it sat in the yard and the sprinkler hit it, now after I wash it theres white water spots on my green burb that I cant get off.

 

How do we get rid of water spots (not from washing but from garden hose)

 

Yes I use the Mr Clean system, thats fine before you have spots.

I have used Safe Cut from The Wax Shop on my green Suburban for years. It's good on water spots, bugs, swirl marks, etc. Their other products are good too.

A clay bar is just that, a bar of clay. After washing, you hold the clay in your hand ans run it over the car finish with a lubricant (I use a spray detailer). It picks up all the contaminants on top of the paint/clear coat and captures them in the clay bar. I ALWAYS run a clay bar before waxing.

 

Best way to describe follows. Take a peice of cellephane (like the clear plastic around a pack of cigarettes) and run your fingers over your paint with the cellephane between your fingers and the car. Feel all the bumps? Now do it AFTER running the clay bar....nice and smooth. Once I did that test, I was sold. Many times you can't really see the stuff it picks up.

Clay bars are awsome. They take water spots off like nothin' else. It's a little time-consuming but if you're just doing the hood it shouldn't be too bad. Just follow the instructions and try not to let the lubricant dry.

I just bought Mother's California Gold Clay Bar kit today. I washed my truck yesterday but we're expecting rain tomorror and Wednesday. As soon as it's all over and I rewash her, I'll try the clay bar.
