My 8.1 really likes the K&N drop-in

I have used K&N drop-in air filters off and on for a long time - on everything from a 1983 Civic w/a 1.3L 4 cyl to a Toyota 4Runner & some others. Sometimes the K&N made a little difference, sometimes it didn't.

I had one laying around from my old 03 (6.0 & 5 spd) & thought I'd clean it & throw it into the new truck. It has made a noticeable difference, especially in the upper RPM range. It really seemed to open up the lungs. The truck gets up to speed a little bit quicker and feels stronger when cruising. It's not a miracle mod by any stretch but I will definitely keep it on the truck (except maybe when the winds & dust picks up in spring). I'm not sure if being at 7000 feet makes a difference in the effectiveness of the freer-breathing filter but I'd be willing to guess that it does. I think with the filter, a cat-back, and a Westers', I'll be set.

YMMV
