ive got a 04 silverado z71 ex. cab , stock susp. with factory 17in . i love the way HDs sit , the right hieght for me , so im thinking of running a 17x10 rim with 295-70-17 nittos tg with a pa 2 in. body lift , what do you guys think ? i dont do alot of offroading but im in the construction/bidding field and go on a lot of jobsights thats why i bought a z71 in the first place , now im just looking for a better look but i really dont want to chop the truck up or do some major suspension stuff , i figure this might be all someone like me would need . is a body lift something i could do in a weekend ? i know alot of you say get a susp. lift but for what im wanting wouldnt a body lift be fine ?

From what I've read, a body lift on our style trucks takes probably all weekend to do. They say it's alot of work. I've also read everyone saying that they reccomend just going to the 3" body lift because you always wish that you went bigger once it's on.

 

My only issues with body lifts are the gaps between the bumper and hitch, and the relocation of the tow hooks. If you can deal with them, it would be a great way to clear larger tires.

If it were me I would look for a 17x8 rim. With those tires and 17x10's they wont buldge much at all. The 17x8 would look much better

with one or two guys helping you it would take a full day and maybe part of another day. I got one done on my silverado (non-hd) in about 20 hours. It's not hard to do, just time consuming.

But, if you have any questions about the install let me know. Once you see the pictures you can make a better decision about whether or not it's something you can do.

 

Also, go with 3", you'll never wish you went smaller.

Took me and a buddy 8 hours. I can't see it taking longer than a full day. First 1 we ever put on too.

I know you do not want a suspension lift but IMO they look a lot better than having the frame show. You could go with a skyjacker 3" suspension lift. They say if you want to, you can take it back to stock. There is also no cutting with skyjacker, with what i have been told. but it will cost a little bit more.
