1999 Chevy Tahoe LT 4dr - Tire Considerations

my question is what larger tire sizes should I consider that would still give the tire enough room in the wheel well? I want a wider tire but I don't want any rubbing. I was thinking either 265s or 285s but I'm not sure how it would fit. The truck is all stock, so there haven't been any modifications to the shocks/springs. Is there a rule of thumb...lets say if you were to measure the amount of wheel well space...then what would be the difference in diameter between 265s and 245s?

I'm running 285's with no problem but I am NBS and I believe you are OBS.

I have a buddy with a 98 tahoe that is running 285's with no problem also. I'm assuming your 4X4 so you can do 265's with no problems. 285's may require slight trimming of the air dam. Neither of ours did but other people have had to do minor trimming of the bottom of the plastic air dam.

As far as difference

245's = 30.5 inches,

265's = 31.6 inches,

285's = 32.8 inches.

If you went with 285's your speedo would be 7.8% too slow (at 60 you are actually going 64.7)

265's your speedo would be 3.9% too slow (at 60 you are actually going 62.3)
