Brake light wire for brake controller??

Can anyone tell me where the best place would be to tap into the brake light wire for a brake controller on a 97 Sierra Z71. I currently have it connected to the rear left stop/turn signal wire, but the trailer brakes stop working as soon as I turn on the left signal...duh! There should be a wire near the brake pedal itself I would think, that is just for the brake, but I can't tell which one it is - this is frustrating!

- 2023 GMC Canyon Elevation with 55K miles. Having trouble with Front and Back door actuators. I have replaced the driver side door and passenger back door actuators already. Now I'm having a problem with the driver side door again.

  have you considered it's an electrical problem, that you just temporarily fixed by moving the wiring and/or cleaning off the connector by disconnecting/connecting it?

  you might wish to use the right bolts, and may need to replace the nuts, if you prefer the seat stays in place in the event of a collision.

  The proper socket for them is e-torx And yes, they go through to the underside of the body, so it's better if you clean off the parts sticking out as best you can prior to removing them, to reduce the chance of wrecking the nut welded to the cab, as it sucks to weld a new one to it.
