Searched for problems related to these trucks but got results from what PSI to run in someone's new tires to armor all usage haha

So, what specific problems do 2000+ Chevy/GMC 1500 trucks trail behind them?

My Dad has a 2000 w/o problems but we've also had the tranny drop out of the 2002 Tahoe. Just looking for some help, soon to buy! Thanks!!!

I had a 99 GMC Sierra 1/2 ton 4x2 that had 53,000 miles on it with no problems. I traded it in on an 02 GMC Sierra ext cab 1/2 ton 4x2 which now has close to 96,000 miles on it with no problems. as far as PSI goes it is around 40 and I use armor all about 2-3 times a year.

The only real problem I have had with my 03 was the gauge cluster went out at about 65k. Nothing else but routine maintenance and I am just over 91k now.

Approaching 100k and the only problem I've had is a bad front differential output seal. Runs great! (Minus the fuel pump sending unit!)

Hmm.. lets see, Drive shaft, the whole thing, 4 caps and rotors. Chevrolet did replace the Distributor as a good will gesture however once I showed them the tsb and my trail of tows from dealers in 3 states. EVAP purge valve, Blower resistior pack, Sterring shaft greased 3 times, inside bottom of the passengers side door sandblasted and painted because the paint was bubbling with rust under the plastic strip on the door, parking brake shoes and rear rotors.

I do armorall my tires, bed cover and inside, minus the floor. Geez, I don't know what PSI I run those goodyear Glazed Donuts, err.. Wrangler S/T's at. I always look on the door. But My camper tires run at 50, and the motorcycle at 29/33. And my cat eats Friskies Dental diet.

I am not the poster child of a satisified owner, but the folks here are helpful and fun.

A whole laundry list of fixes on my 2000 ext. cab V6 (2wd base model). The big items include:

4 separate steering racks (4 different times over 60k miles)

2 complete sets of upper and lower control arms, ball joints, tie rods over 50k mi.

water pump at 12k mi.

Various other small items related to doors, gaskets, trim, etc. Build quality on my vehicle evidently was not good. At least all of these repairs were paid for by GM because they were not bright enough to buy my vehicle back when they had the chance. They insisted on giving me an extended warranty instead. The big repairs alone cost them more than the buyback would have. Be careful with your possible purchase. Check it out carefully. GM builds some good ones and they build some bad ones. In my case, the slogan "like a rock" really means it drives like a "rock".
