Zymol Application

Hey all..I'm interested in claying and zymoling my truck. I asked a few questions recently about clay bar, but now I'm interested in the zymol as well. My father has a bottle of this stuff that he uses in certain spots on his 01' Z28 but its always hand applied. I understand to do this properly a buffer is probably required. A shop down the street wants $270 bucks to do this. Sounds a bit high to me.

Anyone have any hints or ideas?

Zymol..... well for years I used the carbon paste on my black Porsche, I once thought that the blue bottle of liquid stuff might be easier...OOPS!... never again! back to paste. I found the liquidy stuff really hard to use and didn't give as nice a shine. Zymol paste has a high carnuba content so it looks nice but doesn't last. But if you must.. Getting a pro-job at home is difficult without making the investment the right tools. A high speed buffer (practice on the beater car first!) 3M buffer and glazing liquids, all the right pads for each compound and alot of time. For my Porsche it was a labor of love, for anything else I pay the detail shop up the street $120 for a buff and wax.
