there are aftermarket switches to do this, but i can't find one that goes back older that 2002 and all the diagrams are for cars with the contol module. if you can get a wiring diagram, and find the wire that goes only from the e-brake and drl's, you can put the switch in the line there. just be sure you don't get the wrong wire, or you'll still be lookin at the red brake lite again, or muck something else up. i'm setting up to do this myself on tne next weekend off.

there is a real association organized against drl's. google them under "disable drl's" and there are at least 2-3 links. there are several mods on their site, but none get to pre-2000 trucks.

good luck!!

wiring in a switch to override them is the only way for this year.

2002 and up use a programing sequence in the body control module to actually over ride the DRL's

This actually started in MY 2000. I had a 2000 S-10 that allowed the dome override to be pressed 4 times to disabled the DRL/AHL function.

My GP is just a flick of the headlight switch toward me to perform the same function.

As I mentioned, wiring in a swith to the wire coming off the terminal on the relay that would need to be clipped SHOULD funtion the same as clipping the terminal, when the switch is off...

i like drls and automatic headlights. sometimes they dont need to be on like when idleing. when driving i do have them on. i own '98 s-10 , and 2005 gmc canyon , used to have 1991 s-10 . all trucks are REGULAR CAB short bed 4-wheel drive with z85 suspension. and gm i only have interest in REGULAR cab trucks, i have NO interest in extended or crew cab trucks !
