I am thinking about buying a 1984 Chevy Truck with a 6.2 liter Diesel. Anyone have any idea what year Chevy started putting turbo on the diesel engines?

I want to say that 1982 is the year you're looking for. That year, the 6.2 came out and was available in turbo and non-turbo forms. 150hp and 250tq.

No factory turbo to my kwoledge until 89. 6.2L turbo diesel was offered with a Banks option. Still a dog in my opinion. I know a guy who added a Sidwinder aftermarket job and a pipe. Not much performance. Just made for fuel economy. Diesels today are comepletly different beasts all together.

Where could I find out the horsepower rating of the 6.2 non turbo diesel?

I see sstimothy corrected me on the addition of the Banks turbo system in 1989, Thanks!

a 6.2 has 120 horse and iam sure how much torque they r prity gutless and hardstarting in the winter
