Getting Code 447

Every time I drive through a little water puddle the Check Engine Light comes on and I get Code #447, Evaporative Emission Control System Vent Control Open. I reset it and the code does not appear until the next water puddle. Anyone have any idea what is causing this???

I would guess it has something to do with the fuel hose to the tank and the charcoal canister which captures gasoline vapors. Check them for any cracked hose or loose connection.

I'm going to assume that your code is a P0447. I had the same code show up 2 times on my 03 rado. Since I work for a dealership (not GM), I was able to clear the code. It came back on a 2nd time so I took it over to the Chevy dealer. They ended up replacing one of the Evap soleniods with an updated part. You might want to check in to it.

My 05 manual says the CEL will go off if you drive through a puddle. Will go off after drying. No more puddles for you.
