Crooked Bed?

Recommended Posts

Well I got my truck about a year ago and it had a crooked bed and it alwaysed bothered me and now I have time to fix it.

The Truck Is a 98 Silverado Stepside.

My question is are there 4 rubber pads that it rides on? There was a bolt missing in the back and I never saw any rubber mounts under there at all.

Also the Frame was notched about 2-3 inches by the previous owner for bags but now it has no bags. Is it possible that it is a bent frame?

Thanks for any help. :banghead:

I had a crooked bed on my 86 K25. Turns out the bed was welded crooked by the factory, and I didn't notice it until I had had the truck for a while.

Took it to a frame shop, they told me I was screwed, they *did* straighten the box some, but they didn't want to try taking it any further because they said it would dimple. They told me the frame had nothing to do with it. The frame will twist to fit the crooked box. Straighten the frame, bolt a crooked box on it, and it will be crooked.

Well I don't know if this is true for your truck but I know the s10s lean like an inch to one side and when you lower it you can really see it. Check with belltech maybe there is something for your c truck and see if they make something to fix the lean. Sorry I am not more help, c trucks arent my best subject

If the bed is not level in comparison with the cab you can use body shims on the bed mounting bolts to help get it level. The fact that it's been modified (notched) has me wondering where the mis-alignment might be coming from.
