Guys with stock 17's, I need some input

Hey guys,

I have been debating on getting some new tires for this truck. I was looking at Bridgestone dueler a/t revo's. But, they only make that tire in a 265/70/17. I would love to go up to a 285/70/17 but I don't know about the gearing of the truck. My truck has the 3:42's in it. Will they take an increase to a 285/70. I know it isn't much but I need some advice from all the 17" wheel owners. :chevy:

i have bfg 285/70/17 on my z71 with 3.73 , and have noticed really no difference at all , the ride is better and the look is very good . i actully think the gas mileage is alittle better but i could be wrong , it sure hasnt hurt . my truck looks just like yours but mine is a ext . cab . same color , trim , flares , and everything , i had to do a double take . nice ride , you cant beat a white gm z71 with body color fares and the 17s , they just look right .

you might feel it, 3.42's are kind of tall, i drove my friend's avalanche with 3.42's (i think) tho and didn't really feel a big difference, that was with 22's and 305,45,22's which is the same diameter i think, not even that big of a difference with braking, once you get over 35 inches is when you'll start feeling a huge difference

This subject has likely been brought up before but if you go to a "285" what does it take to adjust the speedo and price?

Thanks
