Question regarding "Auto EQ"

Recommended Posts

When I first bought my truck I could have swore the salesman was playing around with the Bose head unit and made it do something that showed different ways to hear music via the "Auto EQ" button. Things like "rock", "country", etc. When I press the "Auto EQ" button now, all it does is toggle between "custom" and "talk", but a number appears in the upper left corner along with the two letters "EQ", like there are different presets for it. Is there a specific way to work this feature or was I seeing things?

Is it possible he was showing you this in a different truck? I *think* the six CD in dash unit only has the two settings, while other radios have the rock, talk, classical, etc., etc., settings.

I honestly don't recall which radio has which, but if that's all you're seeing, that's all you have, there is no way to switch it to another mode with more settings.

The custom setting obviously allows you to customize by preset, you just can't pick a pre-configured setting (other than talk). Change the settings to the way you like it for that specific station, and store the station (even though it's probably already stored).

Kinda weird that it's like that, and why throw in a "talk" setting only and not just make it all custom? Ya got me.

Ummmm...  :chevy: Mine's a Bose, isn't it?  Says so on the speakers for sure.

Did you mean to say 6-disk?

There are 2 different Bose Systems.

What EQ's do you have available? DO you see SPACIOUS as an option?

If you do, then you have the LUX version Bose. If you just see TALK and CUSTOM, then you would have the "non" Lux Version Bose.

THat's the way I understand it...

All I have is TALK and CUSTOM. I must have the low end Bose. All I can change is Bass and Treble for either of the two settings. It looks like it holds these settings though.

I was mistaken about rotating the P-Type knob in my post above. Apparently that selects what type of programs the scan stops on. I thought it was different EQ settings.

The selections for the P-Type knob are many. There's CLS ROCK, COUNTRY, JAZZ, OLDIES, SOFT RCK, TOP 40, to name a few (there's 25 total). Maybe that's what the salesman was showing Alex, and the salesman didn't know what it really was.

That was probably it. Now what is/does this P-Type thing do, stand for?
