T-Case Output Seal

Recommended Posts

Just got a call from the auto repair place who is performing the 100,000 mile maintenance on my vehicle (I trust them) they advised that the Transfer Case Output Seal is leaking. Is that where it connects to the Slip Yoke? It's not a major leak right now so I asked them to hold off on replacing it until I find out more information because if it is where it connects to the Slip Yoke, I am going to have the seal replaced once I have the slip yoke replaced to take care of the common slip yoke clunk/slippage.

Yes it is the seal where the slip yolk goes. Mine started leaking at around 90K. It is super easy to replace. You just pull the driveshaft, pull the seal, install new seal, install driveshaft. If you are getting a new slip yolk, I agree to hold off. The problem I had was the new seal started leaking in about 20K. I had to have a sleeve installed around the slip yolk to give a fresh surface for the seal to seat on. If the yolk gets pitted or rusty, it will cause the new seal to leak after a while.
