Dash Cluster Swap

TonyMazz

Question

As I continue to investigate I have learned on an avalanche forum that if one were to swap out the IPC with a cluster that has DIC access i.e. Escalade you can get full function DIC providing you use momentary swtiches to emulate the steering controls.

I am interested in your opinion on taking out a standard 1SJ Tahoe LS instrument custer that reflects Trip, Odcometer, and Hour meter with a full DIC functional IPC.

Do you see any issues other than transferring the correct mileage and who does that ? Dealer garage ? Would they let me swap it out with a known workable IPC say from an LT Tahoe IPC from their parts department ?

My end-state is I want to access the Oil Life system from the DIC and know folks that have done it but am interested from a techs point of view any issues, etc that might screw things up.....

Thanks

We don't do modifications in the dealership so I have no experience with it. I don't see issues with it, though if the cluster develops a problem, it obviously would not be covered under the warranty if you're still within that time/mileage.

The cluster has to go to an authorized AC Delco repair facility to program in the mileage. Clusters are not stocked by dealers. We get them from the same facility that does the programming.
