Oil Change on 05 Envoy

I was going to do the first oil change on my 05 envoy, 4.2 6 cyclinder yesterday. When I looked under the vehicle I couldn't see a filter or the oil pan. I did see what looked like a skide plate with four bolts. Would filter and drain plug be under the plate?

That is the correct location. You are probably already aware, the 4.2L takes 7 quarts of oil.

Dealer told me, that it is easier to change oil and filter by loosening the WHOLE cover plate and swinging it out of your way. This seems to prevent oil running down the back and dripping on the driveway. It also makes getting to the filter a lot easier.

Thats how I did our Trailblazer, Took 3 of of the 4 bolts out and loosened the 4th one and swung the plastic piece out of the way...much easier and cleaner.
