'83 Diesel questions

Hi Guys,

 

I'm glad I found this forum. I'm looking at a small (21 ft) motorhome on the GMC one ton chassis with the diesel engine (130k miles). I haven't seen it in person yet.

Is this a 6.2 liter?

Any idea what kind of mileage I might get?

Any idea of the power output?

If it's underpowered (for my tastes) are there Banks add-ons or similar for this model?

Any problems to look out for with this engine?

This is probably the 6.2 diesel rated at 130hp. It makes a lot of torque and will deliver fairly good mileage. I got 24 mpg in a C20 Suburban. The motorhome should get around 10-12.

 

Banks did make a turbo kit for the 6.2 that does wonders for the hp and torque numbers. If it will fit, you will be very pleased. Motorhome chassis differed a lot, so it would be up to a mechanic to see if you had the clearance near the manifolds to installa turbo.
