Truck Questions

Hey gang, don't know if you remember me or not I was posting awhile back about purchasing a new 1500 crew cab or another RAM QC. Well I think I made my mind up and I am leaning towards the :dupe: Still have questions though.

What do you think drives nicer on the road? The standard 4x4 or the Z-71?

I was wondering if you can get body color wheel flares without ordering the Z-71?

I like the 40/20/40 split bench with the recliners and fold down center armrest for storage. Anyone know if that is available with a power drivers seat? It appears on chevy.com the only way to get the power seat is to get the buckets with center console.

Do you guys recommend the Automatic Locking Rear Differential even though I plan to buy a 4x4?

My current Ram averages 12city and 16hwy, the 06 Rams have the MDS and get 15city and 20hwy. Do the GM 1500 crews get better mileage? 90% of my driving is city.

I know I have asked a ton of questions, but you guys drive em, so you're the experts

DEFINATELY get the locker.

I doubt you will notice a big difference betweem the regular 4x4 and the Z-71, the shocks will help though, if you plan on replacing them anyways it won't matter. You are aware of what the Z-71 package adds? (Skid plates, shocks and STICKERS!) You should be able to get painted flares on a regular 4x4 as well, but I have never tried... Don't know 'bout the seats. It's only a matter of time before the rest of the world catches on...

I have the Z71 and love it on road.

I think only certain colors have color matched flares.

I think you can get power seat with the bench.

I know for sure that it is a good idea to get the rear locking differential even with the 4x4. I made that mistake on one of my trucks and needless to say I got it stuck one winter. I think the locking diff is standard with the Z71.

My excab is getting about 14 city.

Yes,You can get the flares on a non-Z71 (The exterior color you chose determines if they are painted or textured)

And yes,You can get the power drivers seat adjuster (RPO Code AG1) on the 40/20/40 split-bench seat.

And lastly,You might want to take a look at the "VortecMax" package.I think it would serve you well for towing because thats what it's meant for,It is an enhanced towing performance package that gives you a "H.O." 345-hp/380-lb.ft. torque 6-liter,An "M70" Super-Duty transmission,4.10's with the "G80" locking-diff. rear end,Aux.coolers for the engine oil and transmission oil,And the selective ride control that lets you chose between a soft and a firm ride.

No matter what you go with,I personally would not buy a truck without the "G80" locker.
