I have a 2000 Silverado x-cab and I am trying to install an amplifier in the back and I need to know the best way to run the power wire (4 gauge) through the firewall. Any help is appreciated.

Either find a gromet that is already run through the firewall or find a spot that you can drill a whole and get you a gromet.. Drivers side seems to work well

I usually get a piece of somewhat thin welding wire (or a metal clothes hanger will work) and fish it thru an already there grommet, attach the wire to it with elec. tape, then carefully fish it back thru.

It's a good idea to be sure there are no sharp edges anywhere on the wire when doing this.

Sometimes I might also add a little dab of silicone sealant just before the wire gets thru to where I want it.

Good luck on your install.

Whether it's for the engine drive1.gif, or the radio 1.gif,

more power is always a good thing !!

This is what's going on around here today....

I ran my 4 gauge through a rubber boot on the drivers side. A small cut near the bottom, fished a heavy wire(like a coat hanger) through to the inside of the cab, taped the 4 gauge to the wire and pulled it through. Be careful not to damage any of the existing wires that run through the boot. When finished, a little silicone sealer to seal around the wire at the boot. :banghead:

i dont know about the fullsize trucks, but on my dime i just took the antenna wire grommet out and made the hole a little bigger and fished them both thru there. i havent had any electrical gremlins because of magnetic induction or anything yet. and i have had it installed since at least july...
