Noise coming for climate control sensor in roof

Just started now that it has been cold out. There is noise coming from the speaker looking thing above the drivers head... Is that what it is and what is causing it? No other problems other than this annoying noise..... I thought I read a thread on it a while back but I could not find it...

I believe they call it an aspirator, or something similar. You're right, it is part of the climate control system and sometimes the aspirators in the roof (maybe other locations too?) make noise that sounds kinda like a fan...at least that's what mine sounded like.

 

I spent the longest time trying to figure out what that noise was, thought it was the air pump for the lumbar for a while...haha...

 

Apparently, from what I've heard, there are 6 or 7 of those sensors in the cab for the climate control system. I took my truck in with the noise complaint and the service manager knew what the deal was immediately...changed out the overhead aspirator under warranty, no questions asked...unfortunately I have no idea how much the parts & installation would cost if doing the repair on your own dime...

You're right. The parts catalog calls it an aspirator, though in service we call it an ambient air sensor, as does, I believe, our service information. I sure wish service, parts and warranty would agree to a standard for naming things.

 

Without fail, every customer thinks it's either a microphone or a speaker.

So then if it is making this noise, is it working correctly? If it is, what does this piece cost? Trucks not under warranty......
