Factory Fog Light Button, should it be lit?

Should there be an illumination behind the fog light button? At night that thing is almost impossible to find (not that it really matters since the factory fog lamps are nearly useless) After I do switch it on, a small orange indicator is lit near the button, which helps in finding it to them turn off. I dunno, just one of things that bends me the wrong way everytime I go to use them. rant over....

My factory fog lights on my 2004 are fantastic. I remember on my 99 though that they really sucked. I also have the LT package too, not sure if that makes a difference or not. I dont recall there being a light until you turn it on. Maybe another "shortcut" to save money

Yep,It should be backlit,My '99 was and my '04 is. Sounds like your light behind it is burned out.

uhm.. split decision, So if maybe it should be backlit, whats involved in getting behind the little panel to find out? Major cluster disassembly or just sorta pry out the little panel? Like I don't have enough to do...

I just went out on the lot and checked out some new '05's & '06's and they were all backlit,I even checked out a couple trade-ins ('01 and '03) and they were backlit too.

Its not hard to take out at all,Just remove the bezel around the dash,It just pulls out (To make it easier to remove..put the E-Brake on then put truck in 1st gear and tilt the wheel all the way down)

The switch just "clips" into place,so all you have to do is lift up on the clips holding it in place.

Yes, it should be backlit. You will be able to pull the switch out very easily but I don't think there is an actual bulb that you can replace. There is one - but I think it is soddered (sp?) internally in the switch. It will probably be easier and cheaper to just buy a new switch - check ebay!
