2003 envoy

i have 03 envoy wife came home and said it was tick the motor was knocking scope it and sounds like cam chain area took it apart chain has about an 1/2 inch of slack any ideas of what it could be

My wifes 03 envoy was doing the same thing last yr. and they replaced the fan clutch. It took care of the problem until it got cold again. It only ticks when the fan is disengaged. I don't know if this is the same as your problem..........
