Oil Change on Av 2500

Just finished my first oil change at 3909 miles... Took me about 5 minutes of looking to just find the filter... So is there an easy way to change the filter on the 2500 Av? The way the filter is stuck up high between the steering column, exhaust, transfer case, anything else that chevy decided to put in it's way...make it a b**ch to change...any easy ways (other than taking it somewhere to get it done) I'm sure it will get easier as I do it a few more times but until then anyone have any tricks? Thanks,

How much did the oil filter cost?  I ask because I took  mine in for it's first LOF and the guys at a Quaker State quick oil shop charged me $7.95 extra for the filter for an 8.1L, along with $2.95 for an extra quart of oil.  I told them that I hoped they made a good profit from it because they wern't going to make it again, at least not from me.

That seems reasonable coming from a parts store.  My problem is that they charged me that over and above the cost of an oil change that includes the filter.  What can you do... it sounds like changing it yourself is no picnic either.

I draw the line at doing oil changes - I just plant myself at the end of the Jiffy Lube lane where I can watch the guy underneath and slap their hands if they even start to mess with the K&N. :D

I'm with ya here man!!!  GM does all my oil changes for me.  There is no screwing around, it takes less than 1/2 hour, I stay clean, and it is all documented on their computers for warranty reasons.  Plus it usually is less than $25!!!
