gear selector

I have a 03 chevy 2wd 5.3L silverado at work. SHe is a low rider to say the most. Well a couple of weeks ago after driving on some roads with alot of standing water the gear selector doesn't always move with the shifter until you drive some. So if you put it in drive from park the truck is in drive but the selector is in reverse and the backuplights are on. Could this be a bad sensor from getting really wet or something like that. Thanks for any help.

That sounds pretty messed up. Did you check your tranny fluid and diff fluid to make sure you don't have a bunch of water in there ruining the guts of your truck?

My guess is you have a bad sensor.
