Was knocking, now engine light is on

Over the last few weeks I had noticed a really loud knock when cold starting my truck. Like the well know 5.3 knock it would go away after about 30 seconds. It was annoying for sure, but that's not really my concern.

Last night on another cold startup, there was NO knocking, but now my "service engine soon" light is on. Like I said, this light is on, and now the knocking has stopped.

What could be the problem? Is it the knock sensor maybe? I haven't gone to read the code yet. The truck is running just fine, no noticeable change. Just the light is on.

I'm happy the knocking has stopped, but I don't like the engine light being on.

We recently had allot of rain here which meant drivind through allot of puddles so I'm wondering if some sensor somwhere got wet. Or more wet then usuall.

I should mention my truck is a 2000 GMC Sierra 1500 with a 5.3 and 82K miles
