Well- I took my wife out to dinner tonight (New Pizza Inn in town, yummy). When we went to leave...MY BABY WOULD NOT START!!! Vroom, then shut off about 5 times. Finally I hit the gas when it kicked over and it kept running, revved it a few times and it would idle at about 300rpm. It wanted to stall, but just barely hung in there. We had a few errands to run and it drove home fine, just idled low at the stoplights. I stopped at autozone on the way home and bought a new fuel filter. When we got home, I shut it off (was scared too till it was in the barn) and it cranked right up and idled at 500-550 in or out of gear like always. I checked the air filter, PCV, MAF, vacuum lines, etc. Went ahead and replaced the fuel filter. It runs fine now. I had just bought BP 93 octane gas before we went to dinner. The gas from the filter looked fine (I dumped it in the new filters plastic container).I've started it (and drove around) 5-6 times in the past few hours. Its fine now.

So web mechanics, what do y'all think? Fuel pump on the way out or just some weird glitch? It has never done this before...Always cranks up at first turn of the key. Any guesses or similar experiences?
