My '97 Tahoe still won't start I have spark and 64 pounds of fuel pressure I pulled two plugs and they are clean just wet from fuel.It has nearly new plugs and wires and cap and rotor. I tried a new Ignition control module. Think it might be the Crank position sensor? Any ideas? Thanks!

Ok pulled and tested the cap the rotor is tuning and all is in good in there. I also pulled four more plugs and they are all in good shape just wet from fuel. The spark is not real strong jumps about a 1/4 inch in the test I believe it should be more like 1/2 inch. Could it be the crank position senser?? Oh it also has a new coil.

It will throw a code if the crank and cam sensors are not "communicating properly". Those have to do with the electronic timing, retarding and advancing when needed. But i would think it would start. Is the cap cracked? This does not make sense. Kinda sounds like the timing is off. As I found out on my old `97, the timing IS adjustable, to a certain extent. I`m shooting into the wind here.

Do you have a Haynes manual? They walk you thru checking everything out.Have you checked the sensors? Crank and cam?

I had to change distributors due to a chewed gear. Took me a while to get the correct placement. She fired right up, and then threw a code due to the sensors.

Yeah as far as adjusting the timing on the 97, It boggles my mind, I do most of my own work but have a good mechanic when I cant handle it. After doing the intake gasket, I could NOT get the dist back in right, it was always a tooth off, so he turned the cap, though ur not supposed to be able to do that, and now all is fine. However, when it was a tooth off, it still ran just fine.

Got it back from the shop. He said it was a loose coil connection. But, I know it started because it sat inside over night in a nice dry place. so, I'm sure it will be dead again sooner or later. Do you think a dealership garage would have the best chance of finding the problem when it dies again or do you have more faith in a good independent shop?

Well went out and changed the oil today (because all the flooding got fuel in the oil) and tried starting it for the first time since it came back for the shop and no start again, This is getting old. Well now I new to fix the starter before going back to the drawing broad to figure out the no start. I anyone has an idea I'd be gald to hear it.

You also need to see why fuel is getting in the oil... not good
