service bulletin question/request

I wanted to know if TSB#3259C for the whine coming from my 06 1500HD 4x4 is the same as #3259E from november 2005? Can you list them if different? Has there been any progress from GM on this issue other than to replace the tranny and possibly having the same problem occur with the new one?

Those are not bulletin numbers. I'm not sure what they are. They look sorta like P.I.'s (preliminary information), but with a couple of letters missing.

 

Bulletins numbers have the format: xx-xx-xx-xxx. One of those positions may have two or three numbers, depending, but that's basically what they look like. P.I.'s are more like: PITxxxx

 

Bulletin numbers listed on NHTSA are usually worthless. I have no idea where they get those numbers.

 

In any case, if those numbers ARE some part of a TSB or PI, the "E" would supercede the "C" and there was no doubt a "D" version in-between the two. They increment that last letter when the bulletin is revised so "E" would be newer than "C".

sorry for the confusion.. I have a copy of PIP3259E and when searching the net came across PIP3259C but didnt get a view of the topic contents.. just the title/summary which was the same as the "E" version.

 

So have they come up with any other causes/info on this problem and is the end solution still a tranny replacement? My truck has just over 4k miles on it...

I don't have access to "C". When they update the TSB, only the updated version is available. Since you said you have "E", there's nothing more I can add.

 

Has it been compared to other, identical vehicles? Haven't heard a 4L80E yet that didn't have some planetary noise in 1st.
