2000 3/4 ton 4x4 (OBS)

Hey everybody,

I found an old body style 3/4 ton Chevy 4x4 with 63k miles. It has a 350 with a 5 speed. It is really clean and looks like it has been taken care of pretty well. I really like this body style and was wondering what kind of problems you guys have heard of with them. A friend of mine had a '94 just like it and he got rid of his at 170k miles, so I'm thinking they are pretty good trucks. I would appreciate anything you guys have to say about these trucks.

I have had a couple of these.

Common problems I have had with both:

 

Intake gasket coolent leak, but this happened early (under 50K) at 67K yours has probubly already been repaired if it leaked.

 

Fuel pump goes out about 100K

 

Rear brakes always lockup on the first stop of the day especially after running in the rain/snow. Just got used to this since it was just the first stop then was OK.

It was a smoother runnning and shifting truck than my 05. Kinda miss it.

I own a 2000 CC 350.

 

Intake gaskets went around 90000

 

Fuel pump just went @ 135000

 

Fuel gauge quit working @ about 90000

 

I've done the front brakes/rotors 3 times so far and they are junk again.

I've had the fuel gauge issue on mine, but not the intake gasket issue (mines a 454). At least with the fuel gauge, you can replace just the sending unit, and not have to change the whole fuel pump. I will say that it is easier to raise the bed, than drop the tank though. All around they are very good trucks.

Thanks for the info. I still haven't made up my mind on it. They are asking almost 12k for it. KBB has it listed at a little over 13k.
