I need new tires.

I am looking to replace the 4 tires on my 2 wheel drive Silverado and I do not want to make the same mistake I made in August 2005, so if anyone has the Goodyear Fortera Tripple tread tires, I need your input as they are new to the market and I can't find any reviews good or bad. I really like the tread pattern.

My stock Ameritrac Generals needed to be replaced because the side walls had bulges and cracks. We had a family vacation planned that would take us on a 1,200 mile excursion and I would be pulling our 5,000 lbs travel trailer with the ATV in the bed of the truck. So I was in a rush to get these tires replaced.

So the Chev dealer told me to go to the closest General tire shop and they would adjust the tires and pro-rate them. The guy taked me into Continental SUV tires, at $120 each balanced and installed, that included the adjustment (50%) on the old tires. I thought great, we had to leave for holidays in 2 days and thought I would be forking out at least a $1,000 for tires.

Well, these Continental tires have got to be the crapiest tires I have ever driven on. While pulling our empty car carrier in the rain, I can't get rolling from a dead stop if I'm going up hill. Driving in snow has made it a white nuckled experience with 600 lbs of sand in the box. Handling is not even close to the same as the Generals.

I went back to the tire dealer last week, he said "so sorry, so sad, too bad. You only get what you pay for" He was right, I shopped around, I could have purchased these tires for the same costs anywhere without the adjustment on the old tires. Live and learn and never buy any thing without researching the product...

Costco has $60 off Revo's

They are very quiet, ride great and they grip like glue. I would buy these tires again, even at full price.

Costco will have to order them, but the rebate should still apply. My local store had them in stock since every tech in the shop had them on their trucks.

I have been wanting to get a set of these for my truck but was unsure how they would do with going off road a little.

My mom's Malibu has the Assurance Triple Tread's on it with about 7k on them.

These replaced the stock Goodyears that came on it. Lots of road noise and would hydroplane very easily. I took a trip in it recently and these tires are still very quiet with no noticeable road noise and I was doing 70 through a heavy rain storm and the car never felt like it was wanting to hydroplane.

The tread pattern on the Assurance and the Fortera looks the same to me.

I talked with a guy that had them on his 2 wd Ford F-150 today. He has put about 16,000 k on them. The tires just been rotated for the 1st time and I couldn't see any ware.

He replace the Michelin LTX MS with the Fortera Tripple Treads. He couldn't say any thing bad about the Michelins, but he did say the Fortera's handled better on the highway and in the rain and they are very quiet compaired to the LTX MS tires, also he said he lives on a gravel road, the LTX MS tires would throw stones for a mile or 2 after driving on the pavement. He replaced the LTX MS tires after 88 K miles. Not bad!

He said he was going to try the Assurance Tripple treads on his wifes car next.

I'm still divided between the Michelins and the Goodyears, but I really like the tread design on the Fortera's.

Stay away from the Bridgestones. Their product support is next to zero. I had a set a few years ago and the sidewalls buldged out in 20000KM. Think they would warranty it.....NOT!!! Even wrote the head office and they wouldn't even reply to me.

Until recently I would have agreed 100% with you, but I had a set of Bridgestone REVOs installed on my 04 Crew this past fall and could not be happier. My wife's current vehicle has Bridgestones similar to the ones you described. They are junk, but so far so good with the REVOS. When we replace her tires they certainly won't be BS as the vehicle is a lease and I won't sink the money for Revos for it.

I had the Michelin LTX M/S on my '99 F'150 - those tires were awesome - looked great, were very quiet, and when I got rid of the truck the tires had 40K on them but look new.

I currently have BFG All-Terrains - these, too, are excellent tires. The road noise is louder than the Michelins, but I have a little of 40K on these tires and they have plenty of tread life remaining.

I am convinced that all you have to do is keep them balanced and rotated every 5-6 thousand miles and make sure you truck is in alignment and your tires will last a long time.

I vote for the LTXMSs as well but do agree that they pick up small pebbles/stones more than the stock Firestones that came on my Suburban. No big deal though...
