HD hood

Just a question,   has anyone on this board put a HD hood on a 1500 silverado?  curious if they would fit.

I remember seeing one a while back.  From what I hear the hood is a direct bolt up.

 

I talked to TByrne about his whole front facia change and that requires a bit more work, but if you just want the hood there shouldn't be a problem.

Looking at that picture was where I got the idea. I think it looks pretty good. Not sure I'll do it but I was just wondering how much work it would take. thanks for the replys guys.

I have a couple pics of a HD hood on a 1500 on my computer at home.  When I get home, i'll post them.

Nothing but a bolt-on, and IMO they look killer on the 1/2 tons too!!!!!!!

I checked on the price of a steel cowl hood and it was around $1100.00 painted and installed. I think that would looked awsome.

So where would one go to find a part number on the HD hoods? is that something you can buy through Gmpartsdirect or partszone?  what do you think an HD hood would cost?

$1100 !  That seems steep.

 

The hoods are about $500 (shipped), didn't know it cost so much to have them primed/painted.  I'd find someone local and offer them some $$ do do a side job.

I think i rememeber the guy with the black truck above paid like $800 in all for the hood and paint

That hood swap sounds great, and looks even better. But...would that be considered "rice"?  Not making a judgment here, cuz if I can find out how to sneak it past my wife I might do it myself "rice" or not.
