Upon my recent installation I was wondering how one of those would work in my 02. I discovered that the problem would come in to play with the automatic tranny in park, and trying to eject the screen. I believe it would bump into the gear shift every time.

 

And, if memory serves me right, the GM dash opening for the radio is 1 1/2 DIN, and this radio appears to be a double DIN. Not sure of the 2006 models have a larger opening or not, so, might take some googling on your part.

 

That AVIC-D1 looks to be a really sweet system, though.

03 and up GMs have a double din opening, and any flip up screen will hit the Gear shift while its in park.

I have an older Pioneer 6500DVD in dash in my 95, and as was said don't try moving the gear selector until the screen moves up into position.

I have the Eclipse AVN5435 in my 06 and it looks almost factory. Doesnt hit the shift in park or in gear. It is much better made than the Pioneer AVIC Series I would look into this unit before purchasing the Pioneer... IMO
