what kind of results would you get from putting HD or just 2500 torsion bars on the silverado 1500. they seem to cost the same amount through partszone $121 a piece. would you get a front end lift without having to crank on them?

Yes you would and they'd also not sag like the 1/2 ton bars would.  It does the same job as the hill4wheeldrive leveling kit.

That's what I want to do to my Sierra.  The guys at the 4x4 shop here in town told me to move up a few "numbers".  When I decied to order the torsion bars, should I just ask for HD or tell him exactly what I what and what I'm planning on doing?

Look at what ones are on the truck now and then check the part numbers on my site http://www.chevy4x4trucks.com and I'd say just get ones that are 2-3 notches up.
