Bought a new truck!

Well i just bought a new truck, 2006 Silverado 2500 HD. its pretty standard, nothing to special. I have basic radio no cd player or anything but I was wondering if anyone knows if i bought an Stock GM CD player on Ebay would i have to have it reprogrammed and does it have to be a cd player from an 06 silverado to work?

if anyone knows, some help would be great

You would have to get the radio reprogrammed to your vin in order for it to work.

Not so Fast! Read this thread for more information. Radios may or may not reprogram, depending on the vehicle and the year. The GM Tech is taking a breather, hopefully he'll be back soon to lend his expertise here again. But, PLEASE read what he had to say to me.

I just installed an Alpine receiver in my 06 Silverado. The only consideration you have is if you have OnStar. In that case you will need to buy a narness adapter (Best Buy, Circuit City) It'll cost you about $100.00. You would probably be better off, have a better product, cost less if you get and aftermarket receiver. If you have any questions, let me know.
