What am I doing?

Here's my introduction -

Name's Dave, been driving Toyota compact trucks since 1990. I've had sport and muscle cars also, but I've always had a Toyota truck, owned a 90, 94, 2002, and a 2004.

I'm trading the the 2004 on a 2006 Silverado Crew tomorrow. I like the truck, but I'm a little concerned about a couple of things. First, I've always driven sticks. That's half the reason I've driven Toyotas, man, every one on the lot is a stick. Or at least it used to be that way. Now I'm gonna drive an automatic???? And the other thing is, in 16 years of driving a Toyota, I only once ever had to take a truck back to the dealer for anything, and they made it right fast.

Well, the Silverado got me, I'm gonna buy it. I could really use a big truck, prolly don't need one this big, but I do carry some gear around with me, plus got three kids with their own gear, and I do use my truck to plow. It'll be nice to get to use a heavier plow than I've been using.

Plus, it is cool to drive a Chevy, ain't it?

Dude! You're just doing what the rest of us did... Yeah, Toyota's are nice, but you'll get even more much pride of ownership out of your Chevy, even if it's not quite as perfect as the Toyota. Guys need trucks to give them something to make in their image. If the Toyota doesn't fit the image any more, then you're doing what we all eventually did. We grew up and bought a real truck.

Welcome to the cult.

Shame on you for trading in a (gasp) Toyota (bigger gasp) for a Chevrolet.

Oh, the shame.... I signed the papers today. Guess I won't be needing the metric wrenches anymore.....or will I?

I've to do some surfing here to figure out how this Z71 auto locking diff works.

lol. I thought the same thing. (I've owned Japanese cars for the last six years.) I even went out and beefed up my standard tools since I was buying a Chevy. Oops, GM Trucks use metric as well. Actually I was kind of glad since I've gotten so used to Metric sizing. Welcome.

That's one of the great things about GMs....you get to use both your metric and standard tools.... :seeya:

(Although maybe the new ones are all metric....my Chevys are both from the 90s)

My '02 is about half and half with the metric/standard.

Heck you'll find some places where the same component will have both on it. :seeya:
