Difference between "C" and "K"

This has always bugged me and now i have finally taken the time to try and find an answer.

 

What is the difference between the C1500 ect. and the K1500? Is there any way to tell?

C= 2WD

K= 4WD

"C" = 2x4 & "K" = 4x4

I didn't know either until I had to do the insurance on my z71.

 

OK, while we are on the subject of GM initials, what does does the W/T designation stand for? I have always thought it was work truck, but never asked.

You got it. That designation came during the early part of the GMT800 program. It started as a basic 1/2 T reg. cab pickup with a 4.3L and no A/C but demand made A/C and other options necessary.

It used to be C10 for 2WD and K15 for 4wd
