High beam issue

Hi peoples!

I'm an obvious newby to this board...just found it last night, great place.

Anyway, my issue is up until recently, all 4 headlights came on when I put the high beams on. Now, only the 2 center high beams work. The truck is a 1993 GMC SLE 2500 with the headlight system that appears to have both high and low beam as one unit on each side. Since I've never run into a problem before, I never really investigated them.

 

Any help would be appreciated on where to look for the change.

I think the two centre lights are actually your high beam lights..............every gm truck I have ever owned always had low beams(outside lights) and when you click your high beams on, the inside lights come and outers turn off............there are kits that allow all 4 lights to stay on.............did you buy this truck used?.......maybe it has this kit and it has failed so the lights are no working as they would from factory.

 

Are you sure all 4 used to stay on when you turned the high beams on?...........

yep, bought the truck used about 5 years ago and yes, the 2 center lights are the high beams and yes again that all 4 lights came on when I clicked the high beams on. I'm not sure if there has been any type of kit installed, there's nothing apparent under the hood or the dash.

I guess a good way to confirm how the high and low been operation functions, is to find someone with the same year truck and check their high low beam operation.......
