Green Key Install = Level Truck

Finally, Since November I've been waiting on my Bilstien's from Off Road Unlimitted. They got here a couple of weeks ago. Then I ordered the torsion bar loader tool (J-Tool), it got here a few days ago.

Used a lift at work on Sat. to do the work. All total it took about 2 hours. And that's w/ a lot of BS'ing.

I'm extatic with the outcome. Considering the condition of the old shocks, the truck actually rides better.

Recap:

New Rear Shocks - $140 (Bilstien 5100's Stock Replacements)

New (Longer) Front Shocks - $175 (Bilstien 7100's [ORU Exclusive])

"Green" Keys - $50 (Dealer)

J-Tool - $160 (SPX Kent Moore Tools PN# J-36202-A)

I know I could have used a 7 ton puller, but after surveying the situation, I favored the "safer" route.

I'll get pics up as soon as I can.

The other accomplishment was fixing the P0343 code issue I've been having for over a year (some of you may have seen me post on this). Finally fixed it with a new pigtail and connector. Took all of 10 minutes.

Recap:

New Cam Position Sensor - $15.00 x 3 = $45.00 (Went through three from different places to rule out a bad batch)

Set of Helms Manuals - $135.00

Westers PCM - $450.00

New Pigtail & Connector - $36.00

Out of that I only consider the 2 extra Cam Sensors a waste, everthing else I would've bought sooner or later. Oh well, price of doing your own work.

Figured I'd share my experience.

I'm getting ready to do the same, green keys + Bilsteins. What are the part #'s on the Bilsteins? Why the 7100's on the rear? I have F4-BE5-C154-TO (front shocks) and F4-BE5-6240-T5 (rear shocks).

I don't know why Bilstien entered an exclusive w/ them on these shocks, but they did.

I put 5100's on the rear, and in hind site, I would rather have had 7100's all the way around. Oh well, live and learn.

To save myself a search (I know, I'm being lazy ).... what is the difference between the 5100 and 7100 shocks? This is the next mod for my truck since I have already leveled the truck by turning up the stock keys.

The 5100 series shock is a gas shock with self adjusting valves, non rebuildable.

The 7100 series is a liquid filled, gas presurized, non position sensitive, rebuildable shock.

We rebuilt our 9100 series coil overs on our rock crawler once last season and it wasn't that bad. Now that we have all the right tools at the shop to do it, I figured I'd go with rebuildables all the way around.

The only things you really need is a nitrogen charging tank and maybe a couple of specialty wrenches. And if you don't want to invest in a tank and filler system, most REAL 4x4 shops have it and charge little to do the fill for you.

There should be some numbers stamped on the shock housing. Could you tell me what you have for the front and rear?

The rear are BE5-6082-HO

I have to eat some crow here, the fronts are 5100's also. Sorry for any confusion. I was under the impression that the front shocks from ORU were 7100's, but that is not the case. D@mn it!

Still trying to clear some things up. What color are your shocks? Blue/yellow or Silver/black. If you have 6081/6082 blue/yellow they are stock replacements. 5100's are silver/black. You got them from ORU right?

The rears are stock replacement (yellow/blue) The fronts are the ORU (silver/black)
