What kind of gas mileage

Anybody here has an Avalanche 2500 4X4 with the 8.1 liter (496 cu in) V8? What kind of mileage do you get?

Please don't tell me 20ish on the highway, unless you are pushing this thing.

I had that motor in a Silverado 2500HD. If I remember correctly, I got around 12 on average and I did about 70 miles a day on the highway. It was a thirsty boy. Sometimes, if I was real gentle, I could squeeze it up to 13.5 or so.

I can help you with that question. My college roomate bought on and uses it to tow his wife's horse/trailer. Not sure what the tow mileage is but he's told me it averages 9/10 for day to day driving and as high as a little over 13 on highway trips.

Not sure what year/gears it is but it is a 4x4. Nice tow vehicle-strong engine on a 3/4 ton chassis. Lots of room in the back seat.

Funny thing is alot of guys don't even know an Avalanche 2500 exists. Some guys at work were trying to figure out why a customer's Avalanche has "8-lug wheels" and didn't belive me when I told them it's just a 3/4 ton Avalanche with a big block motor! :seeya:

Those are about the numbers my next door neighbor was getting with his 2500 Avalanche...8.1 with 4:10 gears.

That thing drove soooo nice too.

This vehicle certaily deserves attention from anybody who needs a heavy duty towing vehicle that provides a pickup utility on demand. I bet this thing could run 75 MPH all day long with a 12K lbs trailer in tow without complaining. Bad fuel economy and high price are the only negatives.
