Getting wires in/out of the cab...

How do you guys get wires and cables in and out of the cab. I have a 2002 1500HD and am in the process of hooking up my cell phone hands-free kit and CB and antennas. The cell antenna cable will already be inside the cab. The rest will have to come in from outside. Has anyone ran a cable in the rear cab vent? I'm not sure how to remove the access panel on the inside of the cab. Any ideas are greatly appreciated.

Bob, for going to the battery there's a large rubber grommit just to the left of the master cylinder in the engine compartmen, that should make that part easier.  For running your antenna cable, there door sill plastic trim is held on w/ clips and there's a channel in there for running the cables.  It'll help w/ the install greatly.  I just fished a wire through the air vent when I had to run cables into the bed.  Try folding the seat up and just snaking the wire through by hand.  I've got some pics on my page of the channel for your convenience.  If you've got any more questions feel free to ask.

Bob, depending on where you want to mount your antenna, I have run wires in and out throught he parking brake grommet just under the drivers side feet.  Lift up the carpet and you should see it there.

I finally got my truck wired for its accessories. I used the cell phone circuits in the box under the dash for the cell phone and CB power. There was a 12 volt battery pin and an "ignition on" pin. Made connections with small crimp-on spade connectors. GM probably makes a harness to connect there, similar to the electric brake controller harness, but the owners manual doesn't say much about it.

I ran the CB antenna coax up through the parking brake grommet. I punched a hole through it with a phillips head screwdriver. The coax fits tight and looks like it doesn't need any caulking.

The CB antenna is mounted on an extended stake hole mount. My A.R.E. cap was installed today. I mounted the "thru the glass" cell antenna on the passenger side windshield corner since the truck has rear defogger.

I also made a custom box (covered with marine carpet) that sits on the front hump that the Cb and cell phone are mounted. Also has room for flashlight, gloves...etc. The box is a tight fit between the dash and cup holders (truck is an LS with bench seat). I cut a piece of bed mat and screwed it to the bottom and tucked the ends under the floor liners. All wires and cables are routed through a hole in the back of the box.

Thanks to the group for the vast knowledge base. I got a lot of ideas for my new Chevy from reading the posts from the different forums on this website.

I am having the same problem you had .

Mine is a 97 chev reg cab with a bech seat and manual.....no room for the box. Im trying to find out just how to get all these wires inside the cab and where to mount all this stuff (Galaxy DX99V radio , Uniden bc780xlt scanner and my farm radio a motorola maxtrac 6 channel vhf) i have already got the antennas (except for the scanner) the cb and vhf mobile are hood mounts for the scanner im thinking about a through the glass on the back window .... but anyway is there a way to get these through withou having to punch a new hole through the firewall? I have looked and where the wires- hoses run into the cab there isnt that much space.  will need enough space for 2 coax and power supplys from battery for these items .

k1500chevy97,

I was able to get battery power from the box under the dash near the parking brake. I'm not sure if your truck has it ir not. If it does, the small crimp on female spade lugs fit on the pins. The only other option that I can see is to drill a hole and use a grommet.
