My engine light just came on, just over 27,000 miles. Is this common at this mileage?

No but if you dont have over 36000mi & 3 years its time to see the dealer. You can go to Almost ay autoparts store and they will read codes. My business truck is an 04 4x4 and its at 54000mi no problems.

The code was P0442.  Evap system.  The cap was cracked, and they replaced it.

I got the same code today, which cap did you change? The gas cap or the Evap cap? From what I can see, the Evap Canister is in the back near the Gas Tank. Is that correct?

I checked all of the vacuum hoses, all two of them and they are good.

Update on this code thingy:

I physically checked the hoses, connections, Purge Valve, Evac canister, and it's connections, but I cannot find the Vent Solenoid near the Fuel Tank to check it. Where is it located?

It's mounted on the gas tank( the side facing the front of the truck)

are you talking like 2 feet forward of the Evap Canister, cause that item looks like the Anti-Skid Pump. It has all of the brake lines going into it. Plus none of the fuel and vent lines go to it.

I'll keep looking, can't be that hard to find. It's just a truck fer crip sakes..........

Hi there,

I have an '04 quad, and was getting a code of PO449, I replaced the vent solenoid today, it is right in front of the gas tank, connected to the frame and has a tube, and an electrical plug on it. It is up against the bottom of the bed.
