ac switch went out

my a/c switch on my 03 just went out. first it just wouldn't work on number one setting, but would work on 2-5. now it only works on number 5. is that a faulty switch and does anyone know the part number to replace it if it is?

I do not think you need a switch, I have seen many connectors burnt beyond belief at the resistor. Below is the info I think you need.

The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

 

Condition/Concern:

Some owners may comment on the front HVAC blower being completely inoperative, only operates in high speed or only high speed inoperative. During normal diagnostic it may be noticed the resistor and/or connector is melted. Root cause appears to be thin stock terminals in the resistor connector are not able to withstand the high current level being experienced for sustained periods. A new thicker material is being added to the terminal pins to handle to high current flow.

 

Recommendation/Instructions:

Service fix is to replace the pigtail connector with new P/N 15862656 and if necessary, the blower motor resistor.

 

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
