So I just bought a 2001 GMC Sierra 1500. I'd like to find a place on the net where I can enter my VIN to see what accessories and things came with my vehicle. Any Ideas..??

Thanks...John

Actually, what your looking for is the RPO codes. I have a 94, so I'm not sure where your sticker is. I'd check door or glove box. Then if you look over to your left of the screen you'll see a link titled "RPO Code Guide". That should fix you up.

Your sticker should look something like this:

Hahah, I'm an idiot. This whole time I thought I had the 3.73 gears. GU6..looks like 3.42s.

Enjoy and welcome abord.

Thanks to everyone for their help. This is my first truck ever....I alway said I would never be a truck guy. I usually buy sports cars and 4dr family cars. My 95 Camaro 3.4 V6 just blew a head gasket and I just decided to get a truck for my motorcycle to transport back and forth to the track. The camaro had 218K on the odometer...not really worth fixing I thought.

Soooo the Sierra has a cigar smoke smell in it from the last owner. I am using Citrus Orange spray for the smell. It says it kills smoke odor....we shall see....Anyone have any other ideas to kill the smoke smell??

My wife recently quit smoking, so in respect for her, I no longer smoke in her truck. I also went through it with our Bissel Little Green carpet cleaner. Made a big difference in the amount of residual smoke odor. I'm sure the same effect could be had with a rug doctor rental unit with the hand held apholstery attachment. I did the seats and floor mats, carpet and a through wipe down of all the plastic bits along with the head liner. you'd be amazed at the amount of crud that was sucked out from the seats and carpets, no wonder it smells better. Just rember to air it out good to dry afterwards, don't want to encourage any mold growth...

You also need to clean the coils on the AirCond. Evaporator (you might try some of the GM cleaner used for mold removel)

I had a '68 chevy w/ a sweet 327 (thats another story) that the previous owner liked to smoke stogies while driving. I tried everything to get all of the smell out, But everytime I turned on the A/C (even after about a year or so) WOW knock me over.

I figured out that the interior was clean and no smell left so it had to be the A/C. That was back in the day when the A/C evaporator was in a box in the engine bay (mfg. by MR Harrision GM Division) So, I just pulled the A/C Evap. out, cleaned it with A/C coil cleaner, removed & replaced the inner foam insulation. then put all back, pulled a vacuum and added R12. NO MORE CIGAR SMOKE SMELL.

Oh yea, back in the day when R12 was like .49 cents a can and everyone just vented it out to never land. Who knew any better ?

With your Evap. being under the dash and next to imposible to remove, Get some of the Mildew A?C remover and follow the instructions on attaching the hose and where and how to spray.

How might one accomplish such a task?
