Correct tranny performance

Hi,

I installed an aftermarket Superchip program on my 2001 Silverado 2500 4X4 not long after it was purchased and everything was fine - loved it.

When I replaced the tires with 245 to 265 height increase, the truck was a little down on power, and the Superchip has the ability to compensate, so I reprogrammed using the "book" tire height from the manufacturer. The truck felt much better, but I noticed the tranny unlocked the torque converter at the slightest lifting of the gas pedal, which it didn't do before. So I started backing down .25" at a time and the condition improved.

The problem/question is this: I can't now remember what the tranny felt like at stock tire height.

At highway speed, say 65 mph and about 2000 rpm (3.73 gears), should the converter immediately unlock upon the gas pedal lifting, or should it hesitate at this rpm. I would prefer it to stay locked, but I don't want to lose the performance improvement.

Part of the problem is that the book says the tires are 31.76", but on the truck, they only measure 30.25". I may have overcompensated.

Anyone who has a stock truck, notice for me how/when the converter unlocks if you would since the GM Tech is out of action.

It should release as soon as you let up on the throttle. I have very little experience on aftermarket "stuff" but OEM is a different story. The tire size should be programed into the EBCM. I do not know if your programmer does that. Offhand I would say say that you do not have a problem. By the way, cool first name.

I think it is more noticeable due to the louder muffler I installed at the same time as the tires.

That is part of what is making it hard to remember - didn't sound the same.
