no power 305

well first off id like to say howdy to everyone. And im sry my first post is asking stupis ?'s lol

 

But this is my first chevy im a mopar guy but im poor and this is a nice truck so i picked it up...

 

its a 78 c-10 2x4 with a fresh 305/350/4.10. has a new eddy intake in 600 carb. stock other then that.

 

here's the prob. It has NO power. my dads /6 dodge walks all over it. it revs fine in park but when in gear it has a bog and just makes alot of noise but dosnt rlly take off. the tranny isnt slipping i know that. I tried messing with the carb and timing but it didnt help at all. I dont expect this thing to be a rocket but i want it to move went i put my foot in to it

My first guess is that the axle is geared too high and someone had it geared for economy. If that is the case, nothing you do under the hood is going to make too much of a difference in getting it off the line.

 

Oops, just noticed you have a 4.10 in the back.....

 

If it's a 305, you may be bogging at low RPMs- but if you have vacuum operated secondaries like a lot of Holley carbs have, that's not an issue.

 

Mixture too rich?
