03 Silverado 1500 - Fuel Pump

Hi All,

 

I just purchased a used 2003 Silverado 1500 Ext. Cab LT with 23K miles on it. 1st of all, these trucks are sweet, I didn't know what I was missing. I'm loving the truck so far. I was driving a '93 reg. cab W/T 1500, so you can imagine the smile on my face now

 

I noticed that the fuel pump (I'm guessing that's what it is) sure is noisy. I can hear it whining fairly loud. Is this normal for the '03 Silverados? Just wondering.

 

I also hear that slight cold start ticking I've read about on other threads. Should I take it into the dealership for them to inspect it or is there nothing they will do? This truck still has about 4 months or 13K miles left on the factory warranty so I want to get it checked out asap as you can guess. Thanks for replies.

If your clicking goes away in 60 seconds, don't worry about it.

I've got a 2003 Silverado ext cab 4x4 with 95,000 miles. I haven't ever noticed any fuel pump noise, so you may want to take it in and have it checked out before your warrantee expires, just in case.

 

I do have the ticking on startup, for about 15-30 seconds. Rocker arms, push rods, piston slap? Don't know for sure. You could see what they say about the ticking when you take it in for the fuel pump noise.
