Is an electronic transfer case

I'll add my simple comments....even though they're not worth 2 cents....

Electronic trasfer case is what is in newer GM trucks....you push 4hi or 4low (or 2hi) and the transfer case switches. No stick on the floor with a connection to the transfer case. It's done electronically.

Autotrac....isn't that basically automatic 4WD, which is always on? That's what the Denali's have (which is why I won't buy a Denali)

I beg to differ

there are 2 levels of the electronic transfer case.

the "electronic transfer case" has 2WD, 4HI, and 4LO

the "autotrac transfer case" has 2WD, 4HI, 4LO, and Auto4WD

Auto4WD keeps the transfer case "the front driveshaft" engaged and controls the front diff. to transfer power to the front wheels if needed.

so there is the low down

Awesome. I was reading that in order to do a SAS you need to ditch the autotrac. So, since I don't have it, I'll save some $. Thanks all.

i would say ditch the electric case altogether and go with either a gm stick t-case or an atlas II

then the elctric should work for you, just be careful because you can bend an actuator rod on high obsticals
