Good Engine Change

I have the 4.3l v6 with 200hp and the 5spd manual trans right now in my 1999 nbs 4x4 single cab silverado. Just wondering what engine i could upgrade to and maybe how much say from wreckyard with low miles and to have someone drop it in. Oh yah and if i could get a 6sp manual trans matched up thatd be great. I was thinkin the 8.1 (L18/Vortec) with a 6spd id really like 6.6l turbo diesel LB7/Duramax but is it legal to change from gas to Diesel fuel because thatd be awesome.

  Do you have access to BP fuels? Some stations have Silver 91 E-0 priced the same as their 93 E-10. There is a local Marathon with 90 alky free for $6 a gallon but I go down the road to BP for $5-ish. They also have a 100 E-0 but that stuff is $10 a pop.

  passive listening likely misses a lot of useful data for any system probelms (vs bus/communication problems), which are more common. and you would need to poll most everything, because you have no idea what/where the problem happens, and data from just prior to the event is likely more important than what's happening after the event. It would likely be more useful/successful, to be set to look at a specific subsystem, so after some random problem happens, then you attach this device, set to watch/log for that specific problem the next time it happens.
