Park Neutral Switch on 4l60

Gm Tech, I don't know if this falls under modifications or not, but I am hoping you have the answer or can provide some insight on a question I have. My friend recently swapped a 5.3 w/ a 4l60 trans into his Jeep CJ, unfortunately the shop that made his wiring harness did not include a provision for a park neutral switch on the transmission. We have been asking around and cannot get a straight answer on if driving the trans without this switch will cause any transmission problems or trans faliure. I know that if the switch is broken on the Allison Trans there are issues, but his seems to shift fine through all the gears. If you have any experiance you could shed ont his subject relating to a stock Silverado with a defective or broken switch and how it usually affects the trucks trans and what problems if any can occur, I would appreciate it.

 

Also if anyone else can shed light on if this feature can be "tuned out" of the computer w/o problems please let me know.

I don't know much at all about newer vehicles, but as the Park/Neutral safety switch, it just stops the vehicle from turning over if in any other gear than Park or Neutral. Has this changed??
