Handles on GMC Sierra

Recommended Posts

I just bought a 2003 GMC 2500 HD. I noticed that the handles are fading to white. I have noticed this on other GMC/Chevy trucks when I asked the dealer about it they said it's just the norm.

Any way to fix or touch it up? Trying to see if it would be covered under the factory warranty but they said no.

Try rubbing or polishing compound, gently worked on the surface of the plastic using a soft brush. Acting like liquid sandpaper (fine=rubbing, veryfine=polishing), it will remove the top layer of plastic which has oxidized, revealing the black plastic beneath.

Thanks I will give it a try!  Where can I get this stuff at?

You can get it at any place that sells car polish or car wax. Even Wal-Mart has it. Its great stuff to remove light scratches from your clear coat too!

Your black/textured handles are fading to white? I have not noticed this on any trucks around here.

Once you get them cleaned up nice, start using a protectant like aerospace 303 - best thing I have found yet, I use it on my GMC all the time :bs:

how's that stuff compare to Mothers Back to Black liquid

I seem to have to use this stuff in an 'addictive' manner on the boat dash especially (black also). I havent noticed my truck handles fading, I've only used the mothers stuff after waxing if there's dried wax leftover that stuff removes it pretty well.
